General Questions
A: You can sign in with your NetID in the app Settings. Go to Settings > Sign In / Sign Out > Sign in with your NetID.
If you don’t see this option to sign in, follow these steps first.
- Set your Privacy Level to 4. Go to Profile > My Profile > My App Privacy Settings.
- Set your role to University Student or University Employee. Go to Profile > My Profile > Who Are You.
The Settings can be found under the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the app screen.
The Profile can be found under the avatar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
A: Sign out of the app in Settings. Tap the gear icon in upper-right corner of the screen: Settings > Sign In/Sign Out.
When you tap Sign Out, your NetID will be disconnected, and you will be signed out of the Illinois app.
A: Depending on the privacy level you select, the app may collect, store, and use some personal information that you provide. For more detail on this, see the Illinois app Privacy Policy.
A: Change the language preference in your phone’s system settings.
- On iPhone: Go to iPhone Settings > Illinois > Preferred Language.
- On Android: You must change the language of your phone’s operation system.
Go to Settings > System or eneral Management > Language > Preferred Language (or equivalent setting in your language).
A: Scroll to the bottom of Settings (gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the app screen) to view the app version number.
A: To see the Laundry tile, you must:
- Live in University Housing.
- Set your Privacy to Level 4 or higher. Go to Profile > My Profile > My App Privacy Settings.
- Sign in to the app with your NetID. Go to Settings > Sign In/Sign Out.
Laundry can be found on the Browse screen. You can tap the star to add it to your Favorites screen.
Notes:
- Students living in off-campus housing or private certified housing do not have access to the Laundry feature.
- The Settings can be found under the gear icon in the upper right-hand corner of the app screen.
- The Profile can be found under the avatar in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
A: You can go to Browse > Campus Guide > Campus Safety Resources and add any one item to your Favorites by tapping the star next to it. When it is added to your Favorites, you can customize the Favorites screen so that the Campus Safety Resources is listed closer to the top of the screen.
A: The information you enter into the Research Interest Form is stored in a confidential location. When an investigator seeks research participants, they identify a small number of demographic characteristics for the people they are interested in. If your characteristics match the characteristics they are looking for, you will be given an opportunity to contact the investigator to express interest in participating. After that, the investigator will contact you with further questions. The investigator and the research team do not have access to your survey responses. A: The Illinois app system for recruiting participants to research projects is still in development and testing. It is not yet ready to list new research projects. Further information will be available in the future on our website.
A: While there is not currently a Maps layer that clearly displays all ADA-accessible entrances on campus, you can navigate to ADA-accessible entrances using the My Courses layer. Ensure that you have the ADA-accessible setting enabled on your Profile. When you navigate to a course location on Maps using My Courses, the app will attempt to direct you to the nearest ADA-accessible entrance in the building.
You may view a list of maps that show all ADA-accessible entrances and restrooms on campus in the Campus Guide in the Illinois app. The list of maps is organized by building. Go to Browse > Complete Campus Guide > Maps > ADA Accessibility Information.
A: The Illini ID card in Illinois App contains the same information as your i-card; it is, essentially, a digital i-card. The UIN is considered “directory information” and can be used “as a useful and unique number for business processes internal to the University.”

Wellness Questions
A: Appointments made on the MyMcKinley Health Portal make take up to 20 minutes to appear in the Illinois app. Appointment cancellations or modifications may also take up to 20 minutes to appear in the app. Wait 20-30 minutes and then close and reopen the Illinois app. The status of your appointment should be updated after this time.
Remember that changes made to an appointment on the MyMcKinley Health Portal are not automatically reflected in the calendar app on your personal device. You will need to manually remove or modify the appointment on your calendar app.
A: The symptoms you check on the Illinois Health Screener and your results are completely confidential. They are not shared with anyone through the Illinois app or through the MyMcKinley Health Portal. You can share your results with your healthcare provider by showing the results to them on your device during an in-person visit or by sharing a screenshot with them via email or text.
A: No. Appointments can be viewed on the Illinois app, but they cannot be made, modified, or canceled through the app. Appointments at McKinley Health Center can be made, modified, and canceled on the MyMcKinley Health Portal. You can also call and speak to a scheduling nurse at McKinley Health Center to make or modify an appointment.
Wallet Questions
A: To see your Wallet, you must have the following settings:
- Connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.
- Set your Privacy Level to 4 or higher. Go to Profile > My Profile > My App Privacy Settings.
- Sign in to the app with your NetID. Go to Settings > Sign In/Sign Out.
- Set your profile to University Student or University Employee. Go to Profile > My Profile > Who Are You.
The Wallet is located on the Browse screen, which is organized alphabetically. You can tap the star to add it to your Favorites screen.

A: If you have a Dining Hall contract, your meal plan is in the Wallet.
To see your Meal Plan, make sure you have the following settings:
- Connect to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular data.
- Set your Privacy Level to Level 4 or higher. Go to Profile > My Profile > My App Privacy Settings.
- Sign in to the app with your NetID. Go to Settings > Sign In/Sign Out.
- Set your profile to University Student. Go to Profile > My Profile > Who Are You.

A: You can return to the location where you made the purchase. They can look up the transaction and adjust it so that the meal is charged to the account you prefer.

A: The Bus Pass in the Wallet is accepted on all MTD buses. You can go to Browse > MTD to find a list of MTD stops with expected arrival times for each bus. You may also use the Maps to view a map of the entire MTD bus stop network. The Campus Guide provides a quick link to the MTD website for schedules, maps, and other information.
A: You can change your Illini ID photo by applying for a replacement i-card first. Once you have received a new i-card with an updated photo, you will need to delete the Illinois App from your device and reinstall it again. The new photo may take up to 15 minutes to update in the app.
A: Yes, parents and anyone else can add money to another person’s Illini Cash balance if they know the recipient’s UIN. Cash is deposited to the recipient’s Illini Cash account from the sender’s bank card. No fees are charged by Illini Cash for the money transfer.
Go to Browse > Wallet > Illini Cash > Add Illini Cash.
Groups Questions
A: New groups can be created by faculty, staff, or students. You must be signed in to the app with your NetID.
Go to Browse > Groups > My Groups > Create+.
A: Faculty, staff, and students can join or participate in a Group in the Illinois app. You must be signed in to the app with your NetID.
