Illinois App Does the Wellness Fair

The Smart, Healthy Communities Initiative attended the Health/Wellness Fair at the Illini Union Courtyard Cafe to showcase the wellness features of the Illinois app and to chat with students about the ways it can help support healthy habits. We had such a great time, and we were so grateful for the opportunity to interact with everybody in this friendly, sociable space.

The table at the Wellness Fair was staffed by Dr. Mel Fenner, Ch’nel Duke (UX Designer), Natalie Helregel (UX Designer), and Jake Fava (UX Researcher). We offered information cards and flyers describing the various wellness features of our app, including the Illinois Health Screener.

The Wellness Fair was a huge success! Lots of students stopped by our booth, asked questions, and told us about how they use the app in their daily lives. We were so pleased to find that almost everyone who visited our table had the app downloaded already. A lot of visitors offered us plenty of positive feedback as well as helpful suggestions for new features (dark mode, anyone?) and improvements on features we all tend to use the most.

We also had the opportunity to talk to students about their own wellness routines and what they would like to see in a Wellness app. We got a lot of great ideas and suggestions, which are incredibly important to us as we continue to develop our app.

Overall, the wellness event was a fantastic opportunity for us to promote the wellness features of the Illinois app and connect with students who are interested in learning about all the ways they can access the many wellness resources that the university offers. We are grateful for the chance to participate in such an inspiring event and look forward to attending more events like this in the future!
